Opening our first experimental farm in Amman enriched us with the experience of urban farming in the challenging conditions of the Middle East. Meeting people that share a similar mindset gives us the motivation to start exploring the next phase: starting the urban farming project in Jerash Refugee Camp. Our teamwork and belief in the philosophy and purpose of this project and its ability to help communities prosper and grow is our fuel to make it a success.
With the help of your donation, we will add a next chapter to Greening The Camps’ story and build 3 new family rooftop gardens in Gaza Camp.
Our first rooftop garden is ready to grow on its own and we want to celebrate this moment with you. This opening gives us the chance to share our vision, experiences and ideas for the future project in Gaza Camp (Jerash Camp)– at the same time we are looking forward to exchange ideas by having a discussion. We want you to discover the garden with all your senses: climb up on the roof, have a taste of our own-planted organic food and feel the calm atmosphere of this green corner in the heart of Amman. Live acoustic music will play its part to mingle and connect everyone.
Let’s go back together to our roots and join us in greening rooftops.
Until then, stay green!
What to expect?

What is Amman Design Week?
“Amman Design Week is an annual immersive experience in design, supported by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah. Focused on creating a forum for learning, exchange and collaboration, this platform empowers designers through the cross-pollination of communities and ideas. Building on last years favourable outcomes as measured by audience engagement, innovation, and designer success stories, Amman Design Week will continue to grow annually to become a hallmark for educational and cultural programming in the city, establishing Jordan as a recognized hub for design, creativity and modern Arab culture. Amman Design Week 2017 offers an array of programs that keep the discourse alive around design, crafts, and making, with an aim to build further connections and elaborate learning programs focused on local and conscious design. This year we launch the first comprehensive program specific to students, as well as introduce cross-country engagement and mobile experiences.”
